Janet stays in control at Barton G.
Barton G. The Restaurant isn't exactly the first place you'd think of going after dropping a whopping 60 pounds, but a newly svelte Janet Jackson did just fine when she dined there Thursday night with her entourage of dancers and security guards. In town shooting a video, Michael's youngest sis selected sautéed mushrooms, simply prepared without oil or butter, as her appetizer. For her entree: the Sizzling Brick Chicken (sans potatoes au gratin), seasoned to her liking, of course, with lemon juice and olive oil. For an added kick, Jackson requested Siracha chili sauce, a very hot and spicy dipping sauce commonly used with Thai cuisine. We've been reading that hot sauce speeds up the metabolism; apparently, so has Ms. Jackson. Instead of sharing the decadent deserts with her much more indulgent dancers, Jackson nibbled on a perfect strawberry, while using terrific willpower to resist the flowing chocolate. We're impressed.
Unbeknown to this oblivious columnist who was right there next to her, superstar Meryl Streep was spotted having breakfast at the Hot Tin Roof in Key West's posh Ocean Key Resort over Memorial Day Weekend. Streep, ever the masterful actress, was in disguise -- a big floppy hat and sunglasses, with hubby and daughter in tow.
Sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff were spotted at Skybar last week, singing along to the music being spun by the house DJ -- none of which, we hear, was by the singing Duff sister. The sisters were staying in a town house at Aqua on Allison Island, where DJ Tiesto recently bought a place.
Straight off the heels of his latest break up with erstwhile fiancée Nicole Richie, DJ Adam ''AM'' Goldstein is in town for spinning duties at Mansion.
Also in town: actor Chazz Palminteri, here for the Miami premiere of his latest flick Push, filmed entirely on location in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The movie debuted Friday at the Byron Carlyle in North Beach.
